A shiboridashi is a small, flat, wide Japanese teapot without a handle, designed for steeping high-quality teas. The leaves remain visible, and the lid retains them while pouring.

This shiboridashi was handcrafted by Atsuo Mori in his Bizen studio. Without a handle or grip, it is designed to prepare tea while leaving the leaves and their infusion directly visible.

It is handled by its body and lid, while its spout allows for a delicate pour. Its understated proportions highlight the material and the traces left by the firing process.

Atsuo Mori practices tea himself and designs his pieces in this close relationship between ceramics and tasting. This shiboridashi is thus conceived as much as a functional object as a tasting companion.

His working method is characterized by a completely manual approach: his pieces are shaped without the use of a potter's wheel.
