A hohin is a small, handleless Japanese teapot used to steep delicate teas, such as gyokuro or high-quality sencha. It is held with both hands by the body. Its compact shape and material make it easy to control the temperature and steeping time.

This hōhin was handcrafted by Atsuo Mori in his Bizen studio. It is distinguished by its ornaments, which give the piece a singular presence. The peach-shaped lid knob, in particular, refers to Okayama, which is known for its peaches and for which they are one of the symbols.

The decorative elements on the sides are not merely ornamental: they allow one to grasp the teapot without directly touching its surface and thus avoid the heat during serving.

Fired with wood in a traditional Bizen kiln, its dark surface reveals the effects of fire and ash. Designed for the preparation of Japanese tea, this hōhin thus combines functionality, craftsmanship, and references to the Bizen region.
