This chawan was wheel-thrown by Taiga Mori in his studio in Bizen. Rather than striving for a perfectly even wall, Taiga Mori preserves the traces of his hand movements, intentionally creating undulations in the form.
These reliefs give the chawan a lively silhouette and a natural feel in the hand. They extend into the interior of the piece, where the light highlights the surface variations.
The wood firing in his noborigama kiln in Bizen then reveals the material and accentuates the nuances of the clay, giving the piece a unique appearance.
