This chawan was handcrafted by Atsuo Mori in his workshop in Bizen. Its deep, slightly irregular shape offers a natural grip, while its raw surface fully reveals the texture of the clay.
Intended for the preparation and tasting of matcha, its interior offers enough space to whisk the tea easily. The simplicity of its shape allows the material and the effects of firing to take center stage.
Wood-fired in a traditional Bizen kiln, the chawan reveals a dark, nuanced surface, marked by fire and ash.

His working method is characterized by a completely manual approach: his pieces are shaped without the use of a potter's wheel.
